REVIEW: Greybeards – ‘Out Of The Red’

After originally breaking through with their highly-praised debut album ‘For The Wilder Minds’ back in 2018, Swedish outfit Greybeards took an extended break from the scene as they looked to figure out their next move. Returning early last year with their stunning comeback singles ‘Remember Me’ and ‘Holy Ghosts’, the band picked up exactly where they left off, brimming with bold and euphoric energy at every turn. And with the buzz around their return continuing to grow, they are back once again with their eagerly-awaited new EP ‘Out Of The Red’, a collection that cements this anthemic era within their legacy to date.

Much like what those two new cuts had to offer, ‘Out Of The Red’ makes for this incredibly bold and riveting listen throughout. Mixing this heady blend of soaring guitar hooks with some infectious vocal melodies from start to finish, this new five-track release finds them in one of their more adventurous spirits to date. Whether they are embarking on stadium-friendly rock with opener ‘When The Levee Breaks’ or adopting a more emotive approach on ‘All Those Yesterdays’, Greybeards always manage to find and cultivate something new in which to explore.

It may have been a long time coming for them, but ‘Out Of The Red’ has clearly been a labour of love for the four-piece. Oozing with this fresh and compelling innovation as it plays, we hope they don’t leave it another seven years before treating us to something new again.
