REVIEW: Kyle & The 8-Minute Miles – ‘Kyle & The 8-Minute Miles’
Ever since they first emerged with their breakthrough debut single ‘In My Dreams’ in 2022, Orlando’s Kyle & The 8-Minute Miles have looked to establish themselves as one of the more rambunctious names emerging on the scene. Adding this vibrant pop-punk flair into a raw and rustic garage-rock production with everything they do has given them a sound both fun yet blistering in equal measure. And after continuing their run with a vibrant array of gems in the years since, they now look to cement their legacy to date with their eagerly-awaited self-titled debut album, a record that sees them deliver more of that raucous aesthetic they are known for.
Right from the off, ‘Kyle & The 8-Minute Miles’ sees them lean heavily into that bold and anthemic nature their repertoire has been pursuing. With the opener ‘Despair’ kicking off proceedings, this ten-track collection finds them in wonderfully progressive spirits as they look to pack as much punch into the release as possible. Taking cues from the early SoCal punk stylings of SWMRS and FIDLAR, this new full-length is a true punk-rock party record, with all the bells and whistles you’d want from this lot.
It may still be early days for their career right now, but ‘Kyle & The 8-Minute Miles’ makes for a seminal moment in their ever-evolving catalogue to date. Brimming with these bright and soaring moments amongst the carnage, they are certainly a name we need to keep a close eye on for the months ahead as well.
