REVIEW: Nic Andrea & The Verdict – ‘A Night At The Wrecking Yard, Pt. 2’
Ever since they first broke through with their stunning debut single ‘Everytime (Without You) in 2022, LA’s Nic Andrea & The Verdict have quickly established themselves as one of the more prolific names doing the rounds. After cementing their then legacy with the impactful debut LP ‘A Night At The Wrecking Yard, Pt. 1’ in May last year, the band found themselves riding a wave of praise and acclaim all through to their hotly-tipped sophomore outing ‘Jimi Come Home’ in October. And with the buzz around their sound continuing to build, they are back once again to unveil their third studio album ‘A Night At The Wrecking Yard, Pt. 2’, a release brimming with more of that lively aesthetic they have built for themselves.
While these last few years have certainly been a busy period for them, ‘A Night At The Wrecking Yard, Pt. 2’ shows they still have plenty of fresh and tantalising ideas in which to develop. Capturing another heady dose of rich and shimmering textures that look to take influence from a classic funk and soul style throughout, their newest endeavour has this fun and immersive direction to it. Bringing in a rich and tenacious flair with everything they do, there is something truly special about this new release as they build upon their compelling foundations to date.
While Nic Andrea & The Verdict certainly wear their influences firmly on their sleeves here, they have still managed to capture a warm and distinctive direction in which to call their own. With such a bold and captivating flow from beginning to end, ‘A Night At The Wrecking Yard, Pt. 2’ sees them continue their upward ascent with style and aplomb here.
