REVIEW: Right Shoes – ‘Hiding From Everyone You Know’
Despite an initial middling debut EP back in 2019, alt-rock upstarts Right Shoes suddenly vanished from the new music scene before reemerging back in August with their stunning comeback single ‘Catwalk’. Clearly taking some time away to focus on where to take their direction next, the last few years have been filled with innovation and self-discovery for them, all leading up to this, their long-awaited debut album ‘Hiding From Everyone You Know’, a record that sees them returning to the fold in fine form throughout.
Much like what that initial EP introduced us to, ‘Hiding From Everyone You Know’ sees them deliver a bold and raucous array of guitar-driven delights. Adopting a diverse approach to their direction, which sees them take cues from grunge, indie-rock, garage, blues-rock, power-pop, and classic rock, the band have managed to cultivate a complimentary mix of genres that perfectly suits their progressive direction at every turn. Brimming with this raw and driven energy across everything they do, Right Shoes have clearly made the best of their time away, returning with something truly anthemic and memorable throughout.
It may have taken a long time to get here, but ‘Hiding From Everyone You Know’ has certainly been worth the wait. Delivering something fun and enjoyable is never an easy task, but Right Shoes take on the challenge with style and aplomb throughout.
