REVIEW: Shadows Decay – ‘Agents Of Chaos’
After originally breaking through with their highly-praised debut EP ‘Peace In Hell’ back in 2013, Costa Rican outfit Shadows Decay have been spending the years since cultivating and developing their distinctive direction. Offering up a new single every few years, the band have been going from strength to strength with every new release, always looking to build upon what has come before. And with their aesthetic getting more impactful as they move along, they are now back once again to deliver their long-awaited sophomore EP ‘Agents Of Chaos’, a collection that shows just how far they have come since their earliest beginnings.
Returning to that same intense thrash/groove metal pursuit they have earned a solid reputation for, ‘Agents Of Chaos’ sees them unleashing some of their most intense and ferocious material to date. Brimming with this bold and thunderous energy from start to finish, this six-track outing finds them in fine form throughout, backed up by some truly anthemic production as it plays. With tracks like ‘Falling Of Mind’ and ‘Dry You Out’ bringing them back to the fold with an almighty bang, it is clear from the off that all of that work and perseverance has clearly paid off.
While they haven’t been the most prolific outfit on the underground metal scene in recent years, ‘Agents Of Chaos’ shows they are more than ready to show the world exactly what they are made of. Channelling some brilliantly infectious hooks and riffs throughout, Shadows Decay are certainly ones to keep an eye out for in the years ahead as well.
Shadows Decay’s new EP ‘Agents Of Chaos’ will be available to stream everywhere from the 8th November.
