REVIEW: Siúcra – ‘Rosetta’
Over this past year, Galway-based six-piece outfit Siúcra have been quick to establish themselves as one of the more endearing names rising through the ranks. Offering up a heady mix of Celtic-inspired indie-folk delights in recent months, their dynamic tenure to date has seen them move from strength to strength, always looking to build upon what has come before. And with plenty of praise and acclaim for their work lately, they now look to cement their enigmatic legacy with their eagerly-awaited debut EP ‘Rosetta’, a collection that solidifies that wondrous nature of theirs.
Continuing the same alluring majesty their recent outings have looked to project, ‘Rosetta’ creates this brilliantly embracing texture that rarely lets you go once it gets under your skin. Bringing that distinctive Irish flair and injecting it into these emotive gems from start to finish, this six-track offering perfectly illustrates why so many have been flocking to them lately. Whether they are looking to capture heartfelt emotion or something with a bit more grit behind it, Siúcra always find a way to make it fit into their progressive direction to date.
It may still be early days for them right now, but ‘Rosetta’ shows they already have a strong and confident grasp over their aesthetic. Moving with such elegance from track to track, it feels like Siúcra are a name we are going to be hearing a lot more about in the months ahead as well.
