REVIEW: StereoSynthesis – ‘Vol 1. (Louder Than Words)’
Over these last few months, Houston, Texas’ StereoSynthesis have been busy developing and cultivating a distinctive direction for themselves. Taking their cues from the classic rock arena and rebranding them for a modern ear, the band have looked to create an aesthetic that is both vibrant and immersive in equal measure. And after plenty of toil and experimentation, they are now ready to introduce themselves to the scene with their stellar debut album ‘Vol 1. (Louder Than Words)’, a record that establishes that innovative pursuit they have been on recently.
While their notable influences are worn very clearly on their sleeves here, ‘Vol 1. (Louder Than Words)’ still manages to deliver something new and interesting across all of its seven-tracks. Keeping the majority of the release as an instrumental throughout, this new collection keeps the interest high as it quickly chops and changes its flow to create this wildly unpredictable listen. Brimming with killer hooks and thunderous riffs as often as possible, StereoSynthesis are arriving into the fold with an almighty bang here.
It may be their only piece of new material so far, but certainly makes for a brilliantly enjoyable opening number for them. Offering up some brilliantly inviting moments as it plays, StereoSynthesis are certainly ones to keep a firm eye on for the months ahead as well.
