REVIEW: StoryTeller – ‘Careful Now’

When he first emerged with his stunning debut single ‘The West Coast’ at the start of the year, Austin-based singer-songwriter StoryTeller established himself as one of the more heartfelt names on the rise. Spending much of the months since building his reputation for rich and alluring compositions that look to blend the powerful lyricism of emo-rock with a more tender production, he has quickly cemented himself as a true innovator emerging right now. And with the buzz continuing to build, he returns to deliver his eagerly-awaited debut EP ‘Careful Now’, a collection that delivers some wonderfully passionate ideas throughout.

Much like what his initial outings were focused on, ‘Careful Now’ is a beautifully arranged and progressive deep dive into his most heartfelt material so far. Keeping the flow and texture of his new release as captivating as possible, this five-track introduction makes for a brilliantly powerful listen, allowing him to spread his creative wings as wide as possible. With tracks like ‘Hem Of Your Dress’ and ‘Surf Song’ stretching his songwriting prowess as far as it will go, he is certainly looking to make a strong impact with these new offerings.

His journey may still be within its infancy right now, but ‘Careful Now’ marks a strong and confident start to his tenure.
