REVIEW: Venice Blue – ‘Venice Who?!’
Venice Blue’s debut EP ‘Venice Who?!’ is one of those releases that kicks the door clean off the hinges as soon as it gets going. Across its lean five-track runtime, the Vienna-based band carve out a space where classic rock grit meets modern urgency, delivering songs that feel both lived-in and lit up.
From the first chord of opening track ‘Reckless’, the guitars snarl with an unvarnished bite, locking in with taut, purposeful rhythms that keep the energy high without losing precision. The arrangements are tight enough to show discipline, yet loose enough to breathe, giving each song a pulse that feels human and immediate. Vocally, the delivery is all heat and heart, where melodic hooks are shot through with a kind of emotional rasp that makes every line hit harder.
But what sets ‘Venice Who?!’ apart from a crowded modern rock field is its refusal to chase trends. The band lean into timeless rock mechanics of big riffs, dynamic builds, and choruses that feel like they’ve been road-tested under hot stage lights, but they wrap it in a present-day sensibility that keeps it from tipping into nostalgia. Every track feels distinct yet connected, carrying the same DNA of raw emotion and unfiltered confidence.
As debuts go, this one isn’t shy. ‘Venice Who?!’ cements Venice Blue as a name to remember and a band with a fully-formed voice from the jump, one that’s melodic without being soft, direct without being predictable, and more than ready to burn their mark into the modern rock landscape.
