REVIEW: Seera – ‘Sarab’

Seera’s new EP ‘Sarab’ is one of those releases that prefers to shimmer into view, inviting you closer even as it shifts shape beneath your feet. This four-song collection feels like a small universe built from hypnotic rhythms, swirling guitars, and voices that seem to echo across generations and geographies. It’s immersive, daring, and thrillingly alive.

What makes Seera so magnetic is their ability to fuse weight and wonder in the same breath. There’s grit here, but it’s always wrapped in mysticism; there’s melody, but it’s constantly bending toward something more expansive. Opener ‘Shams’ crackles with kinetic energy, moving between brightness and shadow with a restless grace. It’s the kind of track that makes you want to close your eyes and sway one moment, then open them wide and shout along the next. ‘Akhir Sarka’ brings a different kind of urgency, channelling care for the natural world into something that feels both fierce and reverent. And then there’s ‘Athar’, a largely wordless drift of sound and poetry that acts like a soft exhale after the storm.

Closer ‘Zaman’ continues the slow-burn momentum, building toward something that’s both deeply personal and quietly monumental. The spoken interlude from a maternal voice lands as a bridge between past and present, offering a reminder that stories, wisdom, and wounds are handed down as much as they’re lived.

What ties all of this together is Seera’s fearless commitment to emotional exploration. Their blend of swirling rock textures and Middle Eastern melodic phrasing feels innate, as if this is the only way these songs could exist. You can hear the band’s chemistry in every turn, from Haya’s searching guitar lines to Thing’s grounded, pulse-driven drumming, from Meesh’s low-end gravity to Nora’s voice, which glides between tenderness and fire with breathtaking ease.

‘Sarab’ demands to be felt in the chest, the spine, and that quiet place where memory and imagination blur. Here, Seera are opening a portal, and stepping through it with bold, radiant confidence.
