Shinlifter deliver new single ‘Close Encounters’

Edinburgh’s chaotic newcomers Shinlifter crash into view with their new single ‘Close Encounters’, a razor-edged burst of paranoia, noise, and poetic mayhem. Inspired by drummer Calum Barnes’ UFO-tinged Substack essay and vocalist Olivia Furey’s stream-of-consciousness rants, the track is part post-hardcore panic, part suburban fever dream.

It’s the opening salvo from the band’s debut EP Other Conspiracies, recorded mostly live in a single day with Scott McLean (AshenspireHealthy Living). Swerving between precision riffs and barely-contained chaos, ‘Close Encounters’ is Shinlifter at their most unfiltered, capturing the urgency and sweat of their live shows with every unspooling lyric and scorched guitar line.

Raw, feral, and strangely relatable, ‘Close Encounters’ is a frantic scribble across your hometown map. Shinlifter have landed, and they’re already tearing up the landing pad.
