Slung announce debut album ‘In Ways’, alongside first single ‘Laughter’

Emerging rock powerhouse Slung are thrilled to announce the release of their debut album ‘In Ways’, out 2nd May via Fat Dracula. To mark the announcement, the band has unveiled its first single ‘Laughter’—a visceral, trauma-fuelled track that sets the tone for the album.

‘Laughter’ dives deep into the complex and often painful dynamics of family relationships, particularly between parents and children.

Vocalist Katie Oldham explains, “This song is about a face-off that’s been a long time coming, and the difficult relationships we can have with members of our family, especially our parents. As children, we’re desperate for their attention and approval, and their rejection can feel agonizing. Trying to earn love or consideration from an emotionally absent parent can be so destructive, often leading to resentment and confrontation as we grow older.”

With its ribcage-rattling intensity, ‘Laughter’ delivers an emotional gut punch, showcasing Oldham’s dynamic range alongside incendiary instrumentation.
