Slung share powerful new single ‘Class A Cherry’ ahead of debut album ‘In Ways’
Brighton-based riff-slingers Slung have unveiled another tantalising glimpse of their debut album ‘In Ways’, due out May 2nd via Fat Dracula. The new single ‘Class A Cherry’ arrives with a brooding bassline from Vlad Matveikov that slinks ominously beneath Katie Oldham’s emotionally arresting vocal delivery. The track is elevated by stirring string arrangements performed by the Ukrainian ensemble Kaska Studio String Section, adding drama and depth to Slung’s already expansive sonic world.
Vocalist and lyricist Katie Oldham explains the song’s inspiration: “This song was inspired by strippers, escorts and sex workers and the power dynamics that come with that profession. It’s told from the perspective of a woman weaponising the male gaze that she must endure regardless, and advising others to use it for their own advantage.”
