Social Distortion is an American punk rock band formed in 1978 in Fullerton, California. The band currently consists of Mike Ness (lead vocals, lead guitar), Jonny Wickersham (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Brent Harding (bass, backing vocals), David Hidalgo Jr. (drums), and David Kalish (keyboards). To date, Social Distortion has released seven full-length studio albums, two compilations, one live album, and two DVDs. They released two albums — Mommy’s Little Monster (1983) and Prison Bound (1988) — before signing a three-album contract with Epic Records in 1989. Social Distortion rose to fame with their 1990 self-titled third album, which produced their well-known hit singles “Ball and Chain”, “Story of My Life”, and the cover of Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire”, and was certified gold by RIAA. Many of their later albums, including their second gold record Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell (1992), were also well received. They are considered one of the best-selling punk rock bands, with more than three million albums sold worldwide. Social Distortion is currently working on a new album, which is tentatively due for release in 2022 and will be their first full-length since 2011’s Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes. 10. Prison Bound (Prison Bound, 1988)
“Amazing track, receives no support on radio or satellite radio, catchy hook, story telling lyrics… An absolute classic, best SD song out there… Plus, it basically was their come back to the music scene after being out for about 5 years…”
9. Ring of Fire (Social Distortion, 1990)
“This is by far one of the best cover songs I have heard. Great interpretation of a Cash classic, period! Adds so much character to their eponymous debut. I have not heard all Cash cover songs, but I would say this is likely among the best.”
8. Angel’s Wings (Sex, Love and Rock ‘n’ Roll, 2004)
“This song is about feeling helpless. No matter what you do to come out of this rut but it always pulls you back to the same place. Its like something or someone more powerful than you, who is pushing you down and not letting you get up. You have been fighting this monster all of your life and now you are so close to giving up.”
7. I Was Wrong (White Light, White Heat, White Trash, 1996)
“Great punk rock song. It features an enormous catchy hook, good lyrics and a good amont of energy in it. The vocal performance is close to perfect, really funny to scream along to (cos you know, i cant sing at all).”

6. Cold Feelings (Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell, 1992)
“Some people are like old Social Distortion is so much better then the newer ones say after 1990, well there old music is awesome but how much better can you get then this. A true skateboarders anthem with heavy guitars and syrupy vocals, got to love this one.”
5. Don’t Drag Me Down (White Light, White Heat, White Trash, 1996)
“Great lyrics, an incredible energy, and possibly my favorite guitar riff of all time. A punk rock masterpiece. Ok I agree that the lyics don’t make that much of a sense, but they do bring out emotions, eseciallyp of sadness & FRUSTRATION… The leads and rhythm are truly amazing…”
4. Reach for the Sky (Sex, Love and Rock ‘n’ Roll, 2004)
“I love this song, I love this acoustic version and I love Social D. This band is living today their best times. Their last album is simply wonderful and they play better than ever.”
