Soraia return with fire in their veins on new single ‘So Holy’
Philly punk n’ roll outfit Soraia return with fire in their veins on new single ‘So Holy’, a snarling garage-punk anthem that takes aim at self-righteousness and moral hypocrisy. Fuelled by scuzzy guitar riffs, a rubbery Pixies-esque bassline, and frontwoman ZouZou Mansour’s ferocious vocals, the track is a rallying cry against judgmental attitudes dressed up as virtue.
“A lot of people think they’re better than others because of religion or where they grew up,” says Mansour. “This is a song about being tired of listening to that garbage.”
The single also marks a rare outside collaboration for Soraia, co-written by Mansour and Jon-Mikal Bartee of Detroit garage-punk trio The Idiot Kids. The result is one of the band’s fiercest and most anthemic releases to date—a bold reminder that they won’t be boxed in or backed down.
