Strange Plants deliver a disco-psych breakup anthem with ‘Hot Tonight’

Strange Plants turn heartbreak into a hypnotic groove on ‘Hot Tonight’, the shimmering centrepiece of their self-titled debut album, out now. Produced by Robbie Crowell (Sturgill Simpson, Deer Tick), the track wraps emotional turbulence in glittering retro textures, landing somewhere between MGMT and Pink Floyd with a disco pulse.

Written in the sweaty chaos of a post-breakup summer and recorded in a steamy Nashville studio, ‘Hot Tonight’ pulses with cathartic energy; layering analog effects, warped guitars, and a key-changing finale into a psychedelic dancefloor confession. “It’s a breakup song you can dance to,” says frontman Matt Brannon. “No AC, no peace of mind. That’s where it started—just staring at the ceiling, too hot to sleep, too heartbroken to think straight.”

With its blend of raw emotion and warped euphoria, Strange Plants have crafted a track that aches, grooves, and stays with you long after the lights go down.
