Strawflower keep the vibes high on ‘Haunting Of The Hollywood Hills’
After delighting so many with their impactful EP ‘Something In My Head’ last year, LA-based outfit Strawflower are back on the grind once again to deliver their woozy new single ‘Haunting Of The Hollywood Hills’.
Lifted from their upcoming debut album ‘Greetings From the Stardust Motel’, which is set to arrive later this year, ‘Haunting Of The Hollywood Hills’ makes for a wonderfully smooth and breezy listen. Dabbling in more of that surf-rock-meets-psychedelic energy they are known for, this new LP is already sounding like one to get stuck into when it finally comes out.
Adding about the new track, they said, “We recorded it (along with the rest of the album) in Michael Rault’s home studio in Landers, CA near Joshua Tree in 110 degree heat. Imagine us sweating bullets with no air conditioning and you’ll get a picture of the vibe in the studio. In spite of (or because of) that, it’s got some great noisy/skronky guitar parts and a hypnotic groove with locked in bass and drums. Musically, some of our references were artists like Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Grateful Dead, and Sonic Youth.”
