Stuffed Foxes release their psych-rock anthem ‘Merry Christmas’

French post-psych and shoegaze innovators Stuffed Foxes have unveiled ‘Merry Christmas’, lifted from their new album ‘Standardized’, released via Bristol’s Stolen Body Records and French labels Reverse Tapes and Figures Libres.

Written during sessions at Bourges’ music venue Nadir, ‘Merry Christmas’ is a raw and visceral track that blends rebellious energy with unexpected holiday cheer. It pairs a ternary rhythm and danceable drum pattern with raw, unpolished guitars that defy traditional tonal structures. Lead vocalist Léo’s spontaneous lyric, “I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,” adds a playful, ironic twist, perfectly aligning with the track’s irreverent spirit.

The accompanying video, directed by Flavie Herbreteau, takes viewers to Guesclin Beach in Saint-Coulomb, where ultra-rich revelers partake in an absurd Christmas feast. Shot on a camcorder for a family film aesthetic, the video opens with playful indulgence before descending into biting satire. The spectacle of excess culminates in the guests devouring everything in sight—including a Christmas tree—in a darkly comedic critique of consumerism, evoking comparisons to Denis Villeneuve’s 2008 short Next Floor.
