The Best Albums of 2018
In 2018, some K-pop artists from the Republic of Korea like Red Velvet even made a performance at the East Pyongyang Grand Theatre in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.[20][21][22] In India, Indian pop, rock, and film have continued to be mainstream. In the United Arab Emirates, Arabic pop, Arabic hip hop, rock, and metal have continued in popularity. 10. Some Rap Songs (Earl Sweatshirt)
“As an artistic statement it’s very admirable and a testament to Earl’s ability to be chameleonic, however, it’s mostly a disappointment for me (who loves Earl’s work)because even though the thematic content is profound, I personally don’t find the music on the LP to have much replay value.”
9. Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino (Arctic Monkeys)
“Not a bad album at all. They take the vapid feeling of AM and color it in with lush production and a nice variety of instrumentation. The lyricism is witty and cynical, but the sounds give it an elegant, Bowie-esque feel. “Science Fiction” and “Golden Trunks” aren’t good, but I like the concept of the rest of the album. The first four songs are a particular highlight for me”
8. Golden Hour (Kacey Musgraves)
“The golden hour is a mixed bag. The instrumentation is really well done with the mixture of country and pop sounds mixing really well. The banjos in particular are always a point of pleasure. I find the production to be a bit too glossy sweet at times”

7. Little Dark Age (MGMT)
“Such a smart record, it starts off giving you the best stand-alone songs MGMT has ever written then slowly devolves into experimental soundscapes. A very fun listens, the album is constantly changing after each track, starting off as a pretty good synth-pop album into an evolving masterpiece.”
6. Wide Awake! (Parquet Courts)
“Without ever betraying either his punky origins or departing from his principles of authenticity, “Wide Awake!” offers a new uninhibited version of Parquet Courts, with a more catchy melody. This is truly their best album and a classic of 2010’s rock. “Wide Awake!” will be the first album of Parquet Courts totally accessible to anyone who is too young to have known the hours of the New York punk scene.”
5. Joy As An Act Of Resistance. (Idles)
“What a great album. Danny Nedelko is probably my favorite song on the album, but they’re all pretty dang good. It addresses plenty of issues of today, toxic masculinity, immigration, and more. Even taking the time to redefine the love song.”
4. 7 (Beach House)
“They’ve found ways to pull different atmospheric sounds out of Alex’s guitar beyond arpeggios and downstrokes. He has some serious shredding moments that remind me of “Knock Knock Knock” by Spoon. Victoria has also experimented with new sounds on her synth. As predicted, the production is incredible at weaving it all together.”

3. You Won’t Get What You Want (Daughters)
“This project is as addictive as it is abrasive. One of the most impressive projects I heard all of last decade. Its harrowing restless nature creates an uncomfortable traumatic yet exciting intriguing experience. It only gets better with each listens as you enter the dark world the sound establishes.”
2. Kids See Ghosts (Kids See Ghosts)
“Amazing. I don’t like what I’ve heard from Kanye West and I’ve never heard a Kid Cudi song before, but this project is delightful. Wonderfully layered and produced, this album is short and sweet. I love the psychedelic flavors in this record. I know I’m a bit late to this, but Kids See Ghosts is fantastic.”
1. Twin Fantasy (Face To Face) (Car Seat Headrest)
“Great alternative rock album. It takes you on a journey, with various emotions. 70 Minutes which are never boring and every song has some clever elements and melodies, that are unexpected, but they fit in the song perfectly. All in all, it’s a symbiosis between chaotic sounds, experiments, and catchy melodies.”
