The Boondocks channel satire and sludge on high-octane new single ‘Mr. Feel Good’
New Zealand’s loudest little band are back with a bang. Āwhitu riff-rock duo The Boondocks have unveiled their ferocious new single ‘Mr. Feel Good’, a tongue-in-cheek punk anthem that masks emotional turmoil under heavy fuzz and whiplash riffs.
Formed in 2022 by Scott Parker and Branden Pritchard, the band has carved out a reputation for big sounds and even bigger hooks, amassing over 60 weeks on the NZ Music Charts and racking up eight hit radio singles. Now, as they gear up to release their long-awaited debut album, ‘Mr. Feel Good’ sets the tone with blistering intent.
Built around the persona of someone who bottles up everything to keep the peace, the track balances sardonic humour with real emotional heft. It kicks off with fun, punk-leaning momentum before pivoting into a sludgy, doom-laced riff, a seismic 180 that channels Territorial Pissings-era Nirvana with its shouted vocals and sharp dynamic shifts.
