The Four Seasons Songs Ranked
The Four Seasons is an American rock band formed in 1960 in Newark, New Jersey. Since 1970, they have also been known at times as Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. The band evolved out of a previous band called The Four Lovers, with Frankie Valli as the lead singer, Bob Gaudio on keyboards and tenor vocals, Tommy DeVito on lead guitar and baritone vocals, and Nick Massi on bass guitar and bass vocals. On nearly all of their 1960s hits, they were credited as The 4 Seasons. The legal name of the organization is the Four Seasons Partnership, formed by Gaudio and Valli, and was taken after a failed audition in 1960. While band members have come and gone, Gaudio and Valli remain the band’s constants, with each owning 50% of the act and its assets, including virtually all of its recording catalog. Gaudio no longer plays live, leaving Valli as the only original member of the band who still tours as of 2022. Here are all of The Four Seasons’ songs ranked.

10. Grease (Reunited-Live, 1980)
“Great Song!!! Even after all these years Frankie can still the high notes and sing perfectly on key!! I am so impressed!!! My favorite song!! I can’t even imagine anyone else on lead vocals!! Your voice fits the song so perfectly!!”
9. Beggin’ (New Gold Hits, 1967)
“The bass and drums lay a strong and groovy ground on the left ear, those strings, the piano and the choir really complement the foundation and add rythms for the singer. And the singer man, he’s like covering both left and right ear, bringing it all together.”
8. Raven (Rarities, Volume 2, 1990)
“This song was way ahead of its time and the remakes prove it. i listen to this ten times in a row, no effect it still rules. That’s saying something.”

7. Rag Doll (Jersey Boys, 1964)
“Wrote about a very young girl looking like a rag doll on the side waiting at lights to wash car windscreens for money, can picture it when listening to this great song, i wonder who she was and if she ever knew this song was written about her”
6. Let’s Hang On (Gold Vault of Hits, 1965)
“The background music has a little muscle to it, at least for 1965. A little fuzz guitar, an infectious drum beat, and a little less falsetto vocals. Up tempo with good lyrics, when the Four Seasons were at their best.”

5. Big Girls Don’t Cry (Big Girls Don’t Cry and Twelve Others, 1963)
“Big Girls Don’t Cry uses many vocal techniques familiar from doo-wop records, but the band are normally considered pop, not doo-wop. This is perhaps because the emphasis is on the lead vocal more than the harmonies. However, you would ruffle few feathers by calling this a doo-wop record these days.”
4. Walk Like a Man ( Big Girls Don’t Cry and Twelve Others, 1963)
“Walk Like a Man” is more like just shrugging it off, and some of the rhymes like ‘no woman’s worth crawling on the earth’ and the framing of the lyrics around fatherly advice is pretty cool. Hearing this in so many movies before, I never envisioned giving this five stars somehow.”
3. December 1963 (Oh, What a Night!) (Who Loves You, 1975)
“It’s not the lyrics. They’re fine, in their way, and they’re easy enough to learn and sing along with. And while the basic theme of reminiscing is relatable, I don’t know anybody who really bonded with the storyline. It’s just…fun. Catchy. Well sung, and fun to sing. And I guess that’ll have to do.”
2. Sherry (The Help, 1962)
“One of the most successful acts of the ’60s, The Four Seasons had many hits during the decade, “Sherry” being the first. Valli’s incredible falsetto vocals are guaranteed to shine on any Four Seasons song, and he doesn’t disappoint here. Truly one of the most unique vocalists ever. “Sherry” became the group’s first number 1, and there would many more hits in the years to come…”
1. Can’t Take My Eyes Off You (Solo, 1967)
“This has to be one of the most romantic songs I’ve ever heard. Can’t take my eyes off you is how you really feel when in love. Frankie Valli has the best voice for this song. Forget all the other singers who have ever tried to cover this.”
