Threat.Meet.Protocol. unleash chaos with their ferocious self-titled album

Tauranga, New Zealand’s most unpredictable noise-punk outfit Threat.Meet.Protocol.,have returned with their self-titled album alongside the ferocious new single ‘#Cancelled’. Stripping rock to its rawest form, the trio trade guitars for gut-punching synths and thunderous rhythms, delivering a sound that is as unhinged as it is precise.

Built on a foundation of driving basslines, distorted keyboards, and explosive percussion, ‘#Cancelled’ is anything but radio-friendly, and that’s exactly the point. It’s a brash, chaotic, and darkly humorous take on digital-era outrage, marking the third single from the album, following ‘Funeral March’ and ‘The Cure’, tracks that explored themes of loss, isolation, and existential longing.

The spectacular album itself is a deeply personal project, emerging from a period of grief and transformation for songwriter Austin Cunningham. The band opted to forgo vinyl for this release, instead embracing a deliberately throwback format- compact disc- rejecting modern music industry norms with their characteristic irreverence. Engineered, produced, and mixed by Evan Pope at Studio 11b and mastered by John Golden (Primus, Faith No More, Sonic Youth), the record captures the band’s untamed energy while refining their sound into something sharper and more defiant than ever.

For those craving music that refuses to conform, the Threat.Meet.Protocol. album delivers it in full force. Unapologetic, abrasive, and wildly inventive, it cements the trio’s reputation as one of the most compelling forces in modern punk.
