In April 2012, Train released their sixth studio album titled California 37. In June 2014, Scott Underwood left the band and was replaced by Drew Shoals. Train released their seventh studio album titled Bulletproof Picasso in September. It reached number 5 on the Billboard Top 200 and received positive reviews from critics, but only the single “Angel in Blue Jeans” entered the Billboard Top 100. Shortly after the band’s tour for Bulletproof Picasso, Train released a Christmas album exclusively on Amazon Music titled Christmas in Tahoe in November 2015. The album features 15 songs, which included covers of classic holiday hits and three original songs. In June 2016, Train released the album Train Does Led Zeppelin II, in which they covered rock band Led Zeppelin’s second album in its entirety. The band’s tenth studio album, titled A Girl, a Bottle, a Boat, was released in January 2017. Guitarist Jimmy Stafford was not featured on the new album, as he decided to leave the band in late 2016. Luis Maldonaldo replaced Stafford as the lead guitarist of the band.[7] Drummer Drew Shoals left the band in January 2019 to return to practicing law, and Matt Musty joined for the band’s summer tours. 10. Train Does Led Zeppelin II (2016)
“If you think only Robert Plant can do justice to Led Zeppelin’s music then you need to hear this. It’s the best kind of cover album, close enough to the original that it still seems familiar, but just unique enough for you to remember this is a new and different version. To me there is no “better” or “worse” here. It’s a great and loving appreciation of the music, but done by different musicians with there own sound to make.”
9. Alive At Last (2004)
“Alive at Last is one of my favorites, because it features some of Train’s best music and also shares the fun Pat Monahan has with his audience. I know live albums aren’t supposed to be the best ones, but I’m not a sound snob and I like the feeling of a concert setting and hearing performers put a twist on their standards. This album is wonderful.”
8. Bulletproof Picasso (2014)
“Pat Monahan is one of the most gifted, most underrated singers I know of. He brings an emotional connection to every word he sings. His phrasing is unique, always sitting in the music in a way that feels like they cradle each other, melding together. And his voice! I have had the pleasure of seeing Train – and Pat Monahan solo – perform live multiple times. I don’t think it’s possible to truly grasp his power and pitch-perfect vocals until you see him sing live.”

7. One And A Half (1999)
“Train has a great album here. Every song is written so well and the music is what you know comes from Train. This is cd is a must have Train fan or not. The way they write songs it’s like everybody can relate to them in some way. Love this album!”
6. For Me, It’s You (2006)
“For all of you who think this is a downfall from their rocker roots, that may be true, but there are still some good rock songs on this one, like “Shelter Me”, “Am I Reaching You Now”, “For Me Its You”, and a few others. The reason for a more diverse Train, is because they are trying to appeal to more than just the rocker crowd, they want to be a more well rounded band and show people that they know more than just the rocker style, and I for one have really grown to like them more for that.”
5. My Private Nation (2003)
“With “My Private Nation” Train crosses the border from pop band land to classic rock and roll. “My Private Nation” is such a strong set because aside from being musically interesting, the band is saying something of enduring value with their music. The opener “Calling All Angels” challenges the way we all want a better world to be vs. the less-than-perfect reality we experience.”

4. Train (1998)
“
The album starts with the song that put them on the map, ‘Meet Virgina’. While this track may hook you into their music, the best is yet to come. ‘I Am’, ‘If You Leave’, ‘Homesick’ and ‘Blind’ drip with lyrical emotion and have the riffs and hooks to keep them fresh and memorable. The quirky tracks, ‘Eggplant’ and ‘Idaho’ are fun to listen to and very original in this genre of music.”
3. California 37 (2012)
“The album is packed full of outstanding, catchy rock songs coupled with thoughtful and at times amusing lyrics which in my eyes is the perfect combination. Simply brilliant….highly recommended. This album, perhaps Train certainly deserve more recognition and credit on the strength of this album. I think I need to hear some more from them…”
2. Save Me, San Francisco (2009)
“Save Me, San Francisco: This song is a mid-tempo rock track that is an obvious ode to San Francisco, with witty lyrics and a compressed sort of power-pop sound. There are some elegant piano elements, along with some touches of a nice falsetto, something I appreciate when I listen to songs. It is little wonder that even on an album with quite a few hits that this heartfelt ode became a minor hit itself.”
1. Drops Of Jupiter (2001)
“Drops Of Jupiter is a great song from Train, the background music is excellent and the lyrics are great. This is a great song to sit back, exercise, or dance too. Train is high quality music and this is one of my favorite songs, highly recommended.”
