TRAITRS share brooding new single ‘Dream Drowning’ ahead of album ‘Possessor’

Toronto dark new wave duo TRAITRS have unveiled their latest single ‘Dream Drowning’, offering a powerful preview of their forthcoming album Possessor, set for release on Friday 13th March 2026 via Freakwave.

Positioned at the heart of the record, ‘Dream Drowning’ leans into tension and atmosphere rather than sharp-edged post-punk tropes. Built on patient repetition and spacious production, the track explores mortality, emotional fatigue, and the quiet resilience required to endure both. Its slow-burning structure allows melody and mood to carry the weight, creating a sense of suspension that never quite resolves.

Possessor was written during a time of personal turbulence for the band, framing new wave not as nostalgia, but as an emotional vocabulary. The album was recorded with producer Josh Korody and mastered by Matt Colton, with a clear focus on subtlety, lyrical precision, and tonal depth.
