Walter The Producer drops genre-blurring new EP ‘Modern Rock’, featuring focus track ‘Lonely Cowboy’

Out now via Slumbo Labs, ‘Modern Rock’ marks a bold new chapter for Walter The Producer (aka Reid). The six-track EP is a psychedelic, soul-drenched detour through ‘70s guitar tones, dusty road trip vibes, and modern alt-pop moods, all filtered through Walter’s signature offbeat lens.

The standout single ‘Lonely Cowboy’ is a woozy slow burn that pairs Hendrix-inspired licks with Wild West melancholy and sultry vocal textures. “I made it with Alex Beitzke in March 2024,” says Walter. “I had this guitar idea and we built off that. A couple months later, we met up and re-recorded everything a key higher. I was listening to a lot of Hendrix and Brent Faiyaz’s ‘LA’ at the time.”

With previous tracks like ‘Roadtrip’ already building buzz, ‘Modern Rock’ finds Walter twisting genre conventions into something wholly his own. It’s weird. It’s wonderful. And it works.
