10. Changer (Changer : Dear Eris, 2021)
“It’s a nice song, but it doesn’t know what it wants to be when it grows up. What kind of song is it? What is its purpose in the ACE oeuvre? Not quite midtempo, not quite fan service, not group defining, not era ending summary, and not all of these taken together. The sum is less than the parts.”
9. Higher (SIREN : DAWN, 2021)
“This isn’t as intensely in-your-face as their best material but this is a rock-solid song. That chorus reminds me a bit of ONF’s New World; New World is the better song because of how it really goes for broke but there are far worse songs to take from. It’s a bit messy, yeah, but it really comes together for me.”
8. Down (ft. Grey) (Changer : Dear Eris, 2021)
“A.C.E are my ult bias group and I must say: this song is just not for me at all. I enjoyed Byeongkwan’s rap cos its the only part of the song that had any kind of tempo. I hate this tiktok chasing, hyper palatable, watered down nothingness “vibe” songs. Especially from a group has such an interesting discography. It doesn’t even feel like a song they would usually do. I hope the next Korean cb is more their style.”

7. Favorite Boys (HJZM : The Butterfly Phantasy, 2020)
“The chorus is outstanding. The verses are just OK. They do the job but not outstanding to me, more marking time in the same style than having their own purpose. The song doesn’t hit its stride for me until about 0:30 when the first halloween synth motif shows up, after half of the first verse is already gone.”
6. Stand By You (HJZM : The Butterfly Phantasy, 2020)
“Yes, this is your kind of ballad. It doesn’t sound out of place alongside your old favorites, warm and soft, pleasing vocal, little instrumental drop out hand clap part at the end. There is a hefty microphone effect on the vocal, so I am eagerly awaiting a live version to see how the boys do. I know some of them can sing pretty well, lets see how they do here.”
5. Savage (UNDER COVER : THE MAD SQUAD, 2019)
“I listened to this song on repeat for the remainder of 2019 after it was released along, and it ended up as my most listened to song of the year. this track was like my guilty pleasure because i hated it so much but i loved it at the same time. however, no matter how bad you think the song was, it created so many iconic lines”

4. Under Cover (Under Cover, 2019)
“I absolutely LOVED Under Cover, even more than I loved Callin’ which is a high bar. I had high expectations from the teasers and this blew all of them away. I was mildly headbanging to it in the library today because I couldn’t even control myself completely. It has a strong metal influence and reminds me of Dreamcatcher’s better music yet still maintains its own flavor.”
3. Take Me Higher (A.C.E Adventures in Wonderland, 2018)
“I really missed their old style as well, but I also know that logicallly they had to go a different direction to build a fanbase and interest from the general public in Korean, and this is the perfect time do it. The song actually turned out much better than I thought it would from the teasers and my own expectations of what they would do for a more public friendly song.”
2. Callin’ (A.C.E Adventures in Wonderland, 2018)
“What I like most about Callin‘ (and Cactus, for that matter) is that the song never leaves listeners with a chance to breathe. Even in its quieter moments, the track sweeps you up and throws you around with a constant assault of synths vying for your attention. Underlining it all is a delightfully retro electronic arpeggio reminiscent of 90’s video game soundtracks in both tempo and execution.”
1. Cactus (Cactus, 2017)
“The instrumental’s skittering synth creates a tense, frantic environment that balances well with the more restrained verses. The sound is bright throughout, but with an aggressive sense of catharsis that gives the song a lot of drive. This is most evident as the immense chorus sweeps in, though I wish the hardstyle beat had been brought in during this moment instead of the ensuing breakdown”
