When asked why he uses a mask during an interview by NRK, he stated that “It is to keep a low profile while maintaining the mental image they have given me. I think it’s pretty cool. A little twist that makes people ask themselves questions about who really is the person behind Alan Walker.” On an episode of his Unmasked series, he stated that “The mask is more of a sign and a symbol of unity and being alike each other, rather than me being different.” Here are all of Alan Walker’s albums ranked.

1. Different World (2018)

“Alan Walker is a bit of a wizard. You don’t necessarily need to be a fan of Electronic Dance Music to take the leap here, which, in itself, is a bit of magic (though, if you *do* appreciate the creativity of EDM, you should pause in this review, now, and simply make the purchase). Walker’s freshness comes from a variety of influences, and it’s possible to find sounds in his remixes that will remind you of everything from Irish reels right through into haunting lullabies for the modern day. A lot of his work pushes back on isolation and abandonment, and is doggedly positive-minded, even in the face of great obstacles. One of the most unique things about Alan Walker’s music is that it can sound so much like an EDM fairytale, with both the dark and the fantastic elements of the genre showing up in his work. Can’t recommend this enough, particularly for the ghostly and fairytale aspects of this music.”
