Charlotte Emma Aitchison (born 2 August 1992), known professionally as Charli XCX, is an English singer, songwriter, and music video director. Born in Cambridge and raised in Start Hill, Essex, she began posting songs on Myspace in 2008, which led to her discovery by a promoter who invited her to perform at warehouse raves and parties. In 2010, she signed a recording contract with Asylum Records, releasing a series of singles and mixtapes throughout 2011 and 2012. In addition to her solo work, Charli XCX has co-written songs for other artists, including Iggy Azalea’s “Beg for It” (2014), Selena Gomez’s “Same Old Love” (2015), will.i.am’s “Boys & Girls” (2016), Blondie’s “Tonight” (2017), and the Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello collaboration “Señorita” (2019). 8. Super Ultra, 2012
“This little mixtape sounds a lot like True Romance, but a lot less likable. The melodies and vocals are not nearly as good, and the instrumentals are not as lush or interesting. With True Romance being my favorite Charli project, it was a little disappointing as I knew it’d have a similar sound, but it falls kinda flat compared to the album. It also includes debatably the worst song from TR haha. Anyway Dance 4 U is a super fun song with a nice vocal sample and cool witch house snares. Cold Nites remix is in a similar vein, these two songs definitely have the best instrumentals. However, the last song Forgiveness might be the worst Charli song I’ve heard, the soulful vocals don’t really work for her. If ur a Charli fan it’s worth a listen, if not you probably don’t need to hear.”
7. Heartbreaks And Earthquakes, 2012
“I actually really like when she slows things down a bit and worries less about trying to make something that leans more towards that dance-pop side of things. Slow and chill, with that awesome dreamy (almost witch house-y) at times production. This is the side of Charli I like most.”
6. Number 1 Angel, 2017
“Regretted not listening to this when it was first released, this should have been an album instead of a mixtape. Almost all of the tracks are produced fantastically and most of it were definitely memorable. I’m looking forward to her future works, hoping she keeps this experimental side of her.”
5. True Romance, 2013
“Like a straight-A student fresh out of dance college, 21-year-old Charlotte has learned some things beyond the rest of her classmates, manifesting her debut project as a glorious guilty-pleasure smarty-pop album completely void of any cliché techniques to get her point across. And here we are, all dressed up and ready to go party. Feel free to compare her to literally any female pop star on the planet right now (and everyone already has) but you cannot hide from a record which stands tall with its own domineering personality, filled with enough excitement to prick critical ears all around the interwebs, thirsty for whatever this girl has up her stockings next. And, as we know now, she had a lot. Ms XCX essentially took over the whole world by the time we were done.”

4. Sucker, 2014
“This album is clearly more aimed at radio airings and fun parties, which means that much of the experimentation, the peculiar basslines, and the more haunting themes are mostly gone here. What we get instead is a series of songs mixing electronics, rock, and pop in a so-to-say juvenile way, with fun and catchiness being the catchphrase for nearly every song. There’s tons of energy pumping out from these tunes, with a lot of choruses that are just impossible to not sing along when played. If Charli XCX wrote all of the pop music on the radio, I would practically give up on other music and listen to the radio non-stop. Because this is commercial as hell but it’s also ridiculously fun.”

1. Charli, 2019
“Most grandiose pop records such as Hurry up, We’re Dreaming, Little Dark Age and 1989 seem to get more boring as you listen, but Charli was the exact opposite. However some apparent weaker, almost filler tracks like Warm or Blame it on Your Love really hold back this album from being a classic. The AG Cook and Dylan Brady production on this thing is immaculate and provides the albums with numerous bangers like Next Level Charli, White Mercedes, Shake It or Click that are guaranteed to cure a bad day.”
