Checkmate is a South Korean kpop co-ed group under the label Grace Company. The group debuted on September 21, 2020 with the single Drum. The group disbanded in December 2021 after a little over a year together. Checkmate is composed of five members born between 1993 and 1998. There are 2 female members and 3 male members. The five members of Checkmate are: Maeng Sieun, Kang Suri, Nason, Yongseok, and Noah. CHECKMATE has disbanded following the end of their “YOU” promotions. “Its not a terrible song, but it doesn’t do much right. The production just meets expectations. They throw in the usual instrumental sounds and nothing more. The glissando you-oooh oooh oooh could have been done better.”

“The song isn’t particularly interesting, in my opinion, it’s not bad but just not my style. I would have wished for more contrast between the member’s voices but the guys seem to be singing pretty high and almost at the same pitch as the ladies which is a bummer and sort of a missed opportunity(or maybe I’m just obsessed with deep voices, who knows).”
