Chosen Undead descend into the abyss on brutal ‘Tale From Hell’
Chosen Undead plunge headfirst into supernatural horror on ‘Tale From Hell’, the darkest and heaviest track from debut album Cinder Of A Fading Dream.
The German five-piece build the song around a wonderfully sinister premise. A couple perform a ritual hoping to discover whether Hell genuinely exists — only to find themselves successfully transported into the abyss. Then comes the devastating twist: the man is revealed to be a demon, and because no living soul can remain in Hell, he is forced to kill the woman who crossed over alongside him.
Chosen Undead give that increasingly nightmarish story an appropriately ferocious soundtrack. Old-school metalcore aggression collides with sinister melodies and crushing breakdowns, pushing the band’s heavier instincts to their limits while maintaining the cinematic storytelling at the heart of their music.
It’s an extreme demonstration of the genre-fluid approach Chosen Undead have established, combining metalcore with melodic death metal, rock and pop-punk while allowing each story to dictate where the music travels.
