10. Vivid (VIVID, 2022)

“Well, I can easily confirm that this song is one of the best BG releases of this year (as well as Universe tracks). In the world of today where the absolute majority of boy groups are shouting and posturing, the track feels like a breath of fresh air. On the other hand, it could do even better with more engaging hooks.”

9.  Adrenaline (CRAVITY 1ST ALBUM PART 2 (LIBERTY : IN OUR COSMOS), 2022)

“Haven’t met any alluring track in a month that often takes me to the top of a penthouse. This song itself is not amazingly strong enough to knock me right off of my feet immediately. Anyway, it’s is the first song from 2022 that can give me enough fresh meat”

8. Veni Vidi Vici (CRAVITY 1ST ALBUM PART 1 [The Awakening: Written In The Stars], 2021)

“This is definitely a favorite of mine, and it inspired a playlist of 60s/70s soft rock of varying degrees of twee and sappy-ness. Veni Vidi Vici has a cool rock edge – not with generic distortion and bombast, but a more alternative-sounding guitar surge. Add muted brass to the mix and you’ve got an instrumental that really pops.”

7. Gas Pedal (CRAVITY 1ST ALBUM PART 1 [The Awakening: Written In The Stars], 2021)

“I never return to any of the group’s tracks, but they’re clearly talented. I think I only like this song because I knew what to expect and no section of the song was unexpected in a jarring way. Though I can’t figure out when I would want to listen to this song I can appreciate some parts. The pre-chorus grabs my attention every time I play the song ,and I much rather have the descending synth instead of a clanging beat.”

6. Bad Habits (Season 3. Hideout: Be Our Voice, 2021)

“To me, cringy campy lyrics are one of the greatest things in kpop. I will be devastated when lines like “Shut your tongue” or “We got the flow it’s break your naughty” disappear as more and more idols and songwriters become fluent in English. I wonder what this says about my personal sense of humor..”

5. My Turn (Season 3. Hideout: Be Our Voice, 2021)

“The raps and PRECHORUS have a nice groove to them, the choreo is pretty nice (but not as good as their past title tracks IMO), the percussion is mostly pleasing to listen to, and the second verse in particular is a complete BOP to me.”

4. Ohh Ahh (Season 2. Hideout: The New Day We Step Into, 2020)

“To me this is a funky song without having any, yanno, actual funk. This is a new jack swing song without any actual swing. Construction-wise the song is OK, but the instrumental has completely let these boys down.”

3. Flame (Season 2. Hideout: The New Day We Step Into, 2020)

“This is their best performance out of their titles so far. The vocals sound much more polished, and I think it’s because Flame is in a better range for the vocalists. The woodblock intro is really cool, and I like how the first verse starts unexpectedly. Having the opening lines match the rhythm of the instrumental is a nice touch.”

2. Cloud 9 (Season 1. Hideout: Remember Who We Are, 2020)

“We have Cloud 9 which is amazingly fun! Reminds me so much of Golden Child mixed in with a bunch of soft healing Seventeen! And I can see Some happier SHINee material in there. Cloud 9’s attack of bubblegum hooks is what I like and since it’s a summer song”

1. Break All The Rules (Season 1. Hideout: Remember Who We Are, 2020)

“lthough I find it quite generic, I do like the buildup to the chorus, but then the accelerating percussion starts and when they say “let’s break all the rules”, that’s the climax, with all going downhill from there. I think the actual chorus breaks the flow of the whole song too much and it doesn’t recover again from that second verse.”
