Dead or Alive Albums Ranked

Dead or Alive was an English pop band formed in 1980 in Liverpool. The band found success in the mid-1980s, releasing seven singles that made the UK Top 40 and three albums on the UK Top 30. They were the first band under the production team of Stock Aitken Waterman to have a number-one single. At the peak of their success, the lineup consisted of Pete Burns (vocals), Mike Percy (bass), Steve Coy (drums), and Tim Lever (keyboards). Two of the band’s singles reached the U.S. Top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100: “You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)” (No. 11 in 1985) and “Brand New Lover” (No. 15 in 1986). Here are all of the Dead or Alive albums ranked.

4. Rip It Up (1987)

“This album goes on and I listen to *every* single song. It’s wonderfully dance happy, each song blends into the next. It’s a great workout cd and a great driving cd. My favorite is the remix of ‘Something in my house’. It puts the version from ‘Mad bad and…’ to shame indeed. I love it. Highly recommended for fans of that 80s pop techno synth stuff and fans of DOA.”

3. Evolution: The Hits (2003)

“Evolution is probably the best DOA collection you can find out there and it’s also a super dance CD. Songs like the 2003 remix of Lover Come back To Me, the reworked Hooked On Love and My Heart Goes Bang (Get Me To The Doctor) are a thousand times more fun than the originals.”

2. Mad, Bad & Dangerous To Know (1986)

“Dead or Alive’s third studio album is a logical evolution of the pop/dance band. The sound is familiar and consistent, and the songs are well written and catchy. Any fan of Dead or Alive or 80’s pop should definitely have this in their music collection. Excellent.”

1. Youthquake (1985)

“The whole album has a great sound. Each song is different & all great in there own ways. There is a important version of this album which has 2 different versions of cake & eat it, it’s been a long time & spin me. Cake & it doesn’t have a fade in intro. Been a long time has a intro saying you can be the first in line & spin me has a intro of rocket rocket repeating 2 times I believe.”
