Dewey Kincade & The Navigators – ‘Standing On A Rock’

Over the last few decades, progressive singer-songwriter Dewey Kincade has always been one to explore a more heartfelt direction within the indie-rock sound. Blending passionate lyricism with a warm and wistful production has been his calling card across countless releases in recent years. And with his profile still very much on the up, he has returned with his band The Navigators to deliver the vibrant new studio album ‘Standing On A Rock’, a record brimming with emotive energy throughout.

While not considered a “lost” LP within his catalogue, ‘Standing On A Rock’ took almost seventeen years to come to fruition, which explains its rather diverse and adventurous aesthetic. Still keeping very much along the same path of what he has been delivering over the years, this new outing has a far broader appeal to it as he takes his riveting vocal performance, and layers it across a dynamic array of guitar-swaggering cuts from start to finish.

Dewey Kincade has always been one of those artists that takes his time over his work, and there is probably no better example of that patience than ‘Standing On A Rock’. Capturing some brilliantly rich and passionate textures in which to explore here, he keeps the vibes as high as possible throughout this wondrous new delight.
