Thomas Wesley PentzĀ (born November 10, 1978), known professionally asĀ Diplo, is an American DJ, songwriter, and record producer based inĀ Los Angeles. He is the co-creator and lead member of the electronicĀ dancehallĀ music projectĀ Major Lazer, a member of the supergroupĀ LSDĀ withĀ SiaĀ andĀ Labrinth, a member of electronic duoĀ Jack ƜĀ with producer and DJĀ Skrillex, and a member ofĀ Silk CityĀ withĀ Mark Ronson. He founded and manages the record companyĀ Mad Decent, as well as co-founding the non-profit organization Heaps Decent. His 2013 EP,Ā Revolution, debuted at number 68 on the USĀ BillboardĀ 200. The EPā€™s title track was later featured in a commercial forĀ HyundaiĀ and is featured on theĀ WWE 2K16Ā soundtrack. Diplo worked with and dated British musicianĀ M.I.A., an artist who is credited with giving him exposure in his early career. Later, he and fellow M.I.A. producerĀ SwitchĀ created a Jamaican dancehall project and cartoon series titledĀ Major Lazer.
