Drop Nineteens Albums Ranked
Drop Nineteens is an American, Boston-based shoegaze band active from 1991 to 1995. They were one of the few U.S.-based bands who styled themselves on England’s distinctive shoegaze sound, taking their inspiration from bands such as My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Th’ Faith Healers, and Bleach. The Band Received its name from a childhood memory of Greg Ackell who would drop things off the terrace of his apartment, where he lived on the 19th floor. The band was formed by former classmates Greg Ackell (vocals, guitar) and Chris Roof (drums), who recruited Paula Kelley (vocals, guitar), Steve Zimmerman (bass), and Motohiro Yasue (guitar). The music of Drop Nineteens featured prominently in the American comedy television series The Adventures of Pete & Pete. British songwriter Owen Tromans included a song about Ackell and Drop Nineteens, entitled “Greg”, on his 2013 EP For Haden. Here are all of Drop Nineteens albums ranked.

“A different line up also meant a different sound for the band.Leader Greg Ackell and bassist Steve Zimmerman are still here but the 3 others on _Deleware_ are gone. “Limp”, “Skull”, “Martini Love” ,”My Hotel Deb” ,and “Moses Brown” are good tunes though most fans of this band will long for the dreamy noise of Delaware_.”

“Definitely a bit of an underrated shoegaze album. The guitars sound pretty awesome and hypnotic and although they may not sound completely unique or refreshing, they still offer a lot of satisfying sounds. The lyrics on here are pretty good in my opinion and often tell narratives that evoke nostalgia in the listener. Although some songs are way better than others, it’s consistent enough to the point where I don’t think I can say there is a bad song on here. I’d definitely have to recommend checking this album out if you like shoegaze.”
