4. Summer Dream

“Summer Dream is sensational. Elris needs to have songs like this one to become successful. Summer Dream hits all the right notes from beginning to the end. The MV is a breath of fresh air. This group has really good potential to be great if given the right song to sing. Elris needs to have a part 2 or English version of Summer Dream.”

3. Jackpot

“Half subpar, half great. The title track on Elris’s first mini album since 2018 is honestly pretty grating and awful, capitulating to trends instead of preserving the quirkiness and smart songwriting of their earlier offerings like “Pow Pow” and “We, First”. “This Is Me” is somewhat more melodic and might grow on me for its resemblance to early TWICE.”

2. WE, first

“Anywho, this is some of the purest K-pop you’ll ever hear—half of the vocals are shouted and every instrument sounds fake as hell, and I love it all anyway. The first part is actually a little bit of a lie; “We, First” is very much video-game music in disguise, and “You and I” is a straight-up bossa nova track.”

1. Color Crush

“Half interesting, half not. This one starts with the retro New Jack Swing track, for flavor, and then follows that up with love love love love is VOLCANO. And track three is like… a good version of Olivia Newton John’s “Physical”, if that makes any sense. But then the next three tracks are kinda snoozeville, although I could conceivably imagine gazing wistfully out a window to “Midnight, Moonlight”.”
