“I love this record. Of course, I’m a huge fan so I might be biased but her great voice, one that conveys strong emotion with every phrase, brings a unique feel to these traditionalism, blues, and country/folk songs.”

3. And the Music Play So Grand, 1979

Frankie Armstrong – And The Music Plays So Grand (1978, Vinyl) - Discogs

“The kind of album that makes me happy to get out of bed in the morning. It gives me happiness as it plays out of my radio while I pump gas, which is too expensive. The album comes from my world, the one that describes happiness as being able to have a beer at night and getting paid alright at an office job.”

2. I Heard a Woman Singing, 1984

“Perfectly written, richly textured, emotionally arresting. the songwriting is done with such mastery of complexity, so many moods are accessed at their core. her voice is an incredible human sound, delivering her living poetry with a truthful amount of roughness. and then the production surrounding her songs – so many guitar hooks, no moment is spared a refined touch.”
