GIRLBAND! celebrate queer love and unapologetic desire on the electrifying ‘5AM’
GIRLBAND! unleash a gloriously rebellious celebration of love, lust and obsession on their explosive new single ‘5AM’.
Arriving ahead of their self-titled debut album on November 13, the track finds the rising rock outfit embracing the swagger and excitement of classic rock ’n’ roll while challenging traditional expectations surrounding female desire.
Written by frontwoman Georgie at five in the morning, the song was inspired by watching her girlfriend head out for a photoshoot looking like a 70s rock star. That moment of admiration became the foundation for a guitar-driven anthem about being completely captivated by someone.
Beneath its infectious energy, ‘5AM’ also explores the secrecy and uncertainty that can accompany queer relationships, celebrating the freedom to express attraction without shame or restraint.
Following previous single ‘Neighbour’s House’, which received support from BBC 6 Music and Radio X, the release builds anticipation for an album exploring love, friendship, heartbreak and the chaotic realities of young adulthood.
