God Forbid Songs Ranked
God Forbid is an American heavy metal band formed in 1996 in East Brunswick, New Jersey. Building up a following in the late 1990s by touring with bands such as GWAR, Nile, Cradle of Filth and Candiria, God Forbid’s first full album Reject the Sickness was released by 9volt Industries in 1999. This album received heavy rotation from WSOU-FM in the New York City area and the band was subsequently signed to Century Media Records, releasing the album Determination in 2001. They played on the MTV2 Headbangers Ball tour with Shadows Fall and Lamb of God. In 2004, they released Gone Forever, which, along with a slot on Ozzfest’s second-stage, increased their profile considerably. The next year, they released IV: Constitution of Treason, a concept album about the end of the world. It was their first album to enter the Billboard 200, debuting at number 118. In 2005 and 2006, they supported Trivium on their UK tour along with Mendeed and Bloodsimple. In late 2006 and early 2007, they headlined the Chains of Humanity tour. 10. Precious Lie (Gone Forever, 2004)
“This album stands out from the pack in a time where every new band that emerges is immediately dubbed as ‘metalcore’, God Forbid do not fit this title IMO, to me they are just a thrash band. Gone Forever is a solid metal album from start to finish with only a few minor flaws, it features strong musicianship and strong and catchy tunes.”
9. Empire of the Gun (Earthsblood, 2009)
“This album is one of the best metalcore albums you will ever listen to in your life. I literally had an organism listening to this album for the first time. Empire Of The Gun has got some powerful fuckin lyrics that’ll make you cry if you’ve ever been to war or no someone in war.”
8. Reject the Sickness (Reject the Sickness, 1999)
“It is with being with someone who you love and then she breaks your heart and treats you like shit hence the line ‘state of confusion, reject the sickness'”

7. Antihero (Gone Forever, 2004)
“Man, those riffs and solos rip so hard! These guys were truly the best thing to ever come out of the New Wave of American Metal, they’re just so creative, passionate and heavy! A pity they broke up.”
6. To the Fallen Hero (IV: Constitution of Treason, 2005)
“I think many are mislead by the actual nature of the message of this song. It doesn’t appear to be focused on delivering approval or disproval of any war and peace policies. Its genuine meaning is more literal and it’s a celebration of those who fought and fall for their country and did that in good faith and will.”
5. Go Your Own Way (Determination, 2001)
“God forbid has 100X the talent than fleetwood crack does there just isnt as many followers for such good music like this… Its too bad really!!! Too many people get caught up in the fact that they cant “understand what he is saying” so they dismiss good music like this”

4. Don’t Tell Me What to Dream (Equilibrium, 2012)
“That’s a poetic tool called repetition, used by even Shakespeare, one of the greatest poets of all time. It doesn’t make you a bad writer for using the same word more than once, it helps emphasize it, and gives it more power.”
3. Into the Wasteland (IV: Constitution of Treason, 2005)
“It sucks ass the brothers parted ways. These dudes wrote/played some bad ass metalcore. Metal has taken music to the extreme ; it cannot get any harder, faster, technical nor progressive. G.F. will remain amongst the metal gods.”
2. Better Days (Better Days, 2003)
“This band absolutely owns, just too bad that Dallas left. His guitar playing and clean vocals really help to distinguish God Forbid from the rest. Hopefully they pick up someone new and continue the creative momentum they’ve got right now.’
1. The End of the World (IV: Constitution of Treason, 2005)
“My absolute favorite, perfect in every way. It is like best Megadeth circa “Countdown..” or “Rust…” so intense, so well-crafted and very original. The song is quite long, but passes you by in no time. They use keyboards, that GF trademark wailing guitars from “Anti-hero”. Advice: Give it a few spins before you fully get it!”
