Haste the Day Albums Ranked
Haste the Day was an American metalcore band formed in Carmel, Indiana in 2001 and signed to Solid State Records. Their name is derived from a lyric in the hymn “It Is Well with My Soul” by Horatio Spafford. The band released an EP titled That They May Know You, in 2002, followed by five studio albums: Burning Bridges (2004), When Everything Falls (2005), Pressure the Hinges (2007), Dreamer (2008), and Attack of the Wolf King (2010). The group disbanded in March 2011 but reformed in 2014 and released Coward in 2015. Haste the Day formed in 2001 in Carmel, Indiana. The name was discovered by Devin Chaulk who read it from the hymn “It Is Well with My Soul.” The band originally started out as a three-piece including: Brennan Chaulk (guitar/vocals), Devin Chaulk (drums/vocals), and Mike Murphy (bass/vocals). Six months after forming, the band added longtime friend Jason Barnes to the group as a second guitarist. In 2002, the band recruited Jimmy Ryan as their lead vocalist who was member of the death metal band Upheaval from 1997 until 1999. According to Ryan, he met Barnes at a bible study and recognized him, which led to the invitation to join the band. In the summer of 2002, the band self-produced their first EP, That They May Know You with the song “Substance” acting as the lead single. A year later Haste the Day signed with Tooth & Nail Records subsidiary Solid State Records. Here are all of Haste the Day albums ranked.

6. Coward
“I want to explain a little bit about this album without getting too much in depth, because there is a lot to say. Basically, these guys broke up in 2011 and now they are back together with literally almost every member that ever played with the band. That is like 9 guys. The cool thing is that both vocalists, Jimmy Ryan from the first 2 records and Stephen Keech from everything after both lend their talents and distinct styles to this album.”
5. Attack Of The Wolf King
“Much like Dreamer it’s heavy with nice breakdowns, melodies and riffs. The band is on the top of their game at the moment. I guess they were tired of being mediocre and decided to deliver some of the best songs of their careers with these last two albums. I might even go as far as calling this their best album. I’m serious. It’s quite excellent.”
4. Dreamer
“Sounds like Haste The Day is finally taking themselves seriously. Their last two albums were nothing to write home about but this is their best album since Burning Bridges. Nice and heavy with good melodies. They are certainly back on the right track with this one.”

3. Pressure The Hinges
“A vocalist loss is a huge deal, especially for a band like Haste the Day whom had an exceptionally good and original vocalist like Jimmy Ryan. ‘Pressure the Hinges’ is the first album to feature Stephen Keech, whom has managed to stay with the band until their demise in 2010. After the average ‘When Everything Falls’, ‘Pressure the Hinges’ returns to the melodic side of Haste the Day.”
2. Burning Bridges
“Their best album. Filled with tons of great tunes. Ignore the next two and get this and the two newest albums. It’s really all you need from this band. “American Love” is my favorite Haste The Day song. Love it.”
1. When Everything Falls
“Does every moderately successful metalcore band have to water down their “breakout” albums in order to appeal more to the Hot Topic, teenie-bopper crowd? Atreyu did it with The Curse. Norma Jean did it with O God, the Aftermath. Every Time I Die sounds like they’re going to do it with Gutter Phenomenon. Really it should be no surprise that Haste the Day would follow the trend and mellow out on When Everything Falls.”
