Shinedown Albums Ranked

Shinedown is an American rock band from Jacksonville, Florida, formed by singer Brent Smith in 2001 after the dissolution of Dreve, his previous band. Smith, still under contract with record label Atlantic Records, recruited the band’s original lineup of Jasin Todd as a guitarist, Brad Stewart on bass, and Barry Kerch on drums. Consistent for the first two album cycles, a few lineup changes followed in the late 2000s, eventually stabilizing with Smith and Kerch alongside Zach Myers on guitar and Eric Bass on bass. The group has released six studio albums: Leave a Whisper (2003), Us and Them (2005), The Sound of Madness (2008), Amaryllis (2012), Threat to Survival (2015), and Attention Attention (2018). Shinedown has sold more than ten million records worldwide and has had the most number-one singles on the Billboard Mainstream Rock charts out of any band, with 16. Here are all Shinedown albums ranked.

7. ITunes Session (2010)

“This diversity undoubtedly turns some people off as they may not be heavy enough for hard core metal heads, but probably too heavy for fans of more radio friendly rock. To my ears the diversity is a good thing with the band branching in several different directions. “

6. Us and Them (2005)

“This is by far the best CD Shinedown has written and recorded. It rocks and it is well recorded. The songs are smartly written and delivered. If you like very good hard rock you will enjoy this gem.”

5. Threat to Survival (2015)

“Love this band! They are relatively unknown by folks I speak with, but one by one I am telling people they are seriously missing out by not hearing this band. The songs are inspirational, but absolutely rock. You will be singing the songs after one listen. I know a band is great if I can listen to the cd multiple times and still go back again because the songs are stuck in my head.”

4. ATTENTION ATTENTION (2018)

“fter listening to it the first time around I took some time to read an article in which Shinedown talks about Attention Attention and how they produced it themselves because this was THEIR sound. Everything is truly done by them. They recorded it, produced it and mixed it themselves which to me made the cd even more enjoyable. Each song from the first to the last are a journey through their lives and those around them that have a profound effect on their lives.”

3. Leave a Whisper (2003)

“This Shinedown album/CD contains some great hard rocking music. Their music is more mainstream hard rock than Skynyrd’s form of Southern Rock. I would say that Shinedown and the music on this album/CD is more like the contemporary rock you hear on contemporary rock radio stations. I’m really looking forward to seeing this band perform live.”

2. Amaryllis (2012)

“This was very much a transition album for the band in terms of their sound. Before this album they were very much in the classic rock category and there are many songs in this album which still fall into that category. I will start with what I think is not just the best track on the album but out of all the stuff they have released up to 2018 and that is title “Amaryllis”. It is the perfect rock song. The soaring vocals, the nice wee guitar solo even has some violin which adds so much to a very moving song. “

1. The Sound Of Madness (2008)

“This is awesome! There are so many great songs on here. My favorites are Devour, Sound Of Madness, Second Chance, The Crow and The Butterfly, If You Only Knew, Sin With A Grin, What A Shame, and Breaking Inside. The lyrics are good, and meaningful. This album is thoroughly enjoyable! I’d recommend this. One person found this helpful”
