10. Out of Season
“This is one of those complete albums that has gotten to sound better with age … this used to be the favorite album of my parents when I was a kid & of course it didn’t take me long to become hooked.”
9. Shakin’ It Loose
“The one track I tend to not enjoy as much is “Shakin’ It Loose.”(Don’t get me wrong-it is not a bad track; it just sounds too generic. It could have been recorded by Styx or Journey or 38 Special!). “
8. In Your Letter
“In Your Letter” has a retro 1950’s feel to it. It also made the pop charts at the time. A fun song with a very nice piano from Neal Doughty. “In Your Letter” is probably the best way to practise your strumming and chord changes being made up of simple chords and strumming patterns too; I know it worked for me.”

7. Someone Tonight
“REO Speedwagon have an interesting lead singer who is most definitely an acquired taste. You will either like his bizarre style or you won’t. I like it. I think it was especially good in the early days. “
6. Tough Guys
“Tough Guys” is one of the most relentless tracks on the album. It rocks from start to finish and interestingly enough, begins with a vocal segment from the television program, “The Little Rascals.” (Madonna would employ this technique in her song “White Heat,” which included a spoken prologue from James Cagney in her tribute to him on her 1986 album “True Blue.”)”
5. Don’t Let Him Go
“Don’t Let Him Go” is my pick for favorite song. Great, speedy rocker with very good vocals. In fact, the guitar playing throughout the album is a highlight for me, seeing as how it’s melodic most of the time.”

4. I Wish You Were There
“The album closes with the highly sentimental “I Wish You Were There,” one of my favorite ballads on the collection. (This would be an excellent tune that could wind up on a soundtrack to a love story with a “coming of age” theme to it.)”
3. Keep On Loving You
“KEEP ON LOVING YOU, from this album which was the first top 40 hit for them finally became #1 hit propelling the sales and ranking of the album into #1. Even in this slow ballad excellent guitar solo keeps the song from being just a pop song.”
2. Follow My Heart
“Any group that has such a long career (and plenty that don’t) inevitably go through personnel changes. The line-up that recorded this album was Kevin Cronin (lead vocals, guitar), Gary Richrath (lead guitar), Alan Gratzer (drums), Neal Doughty (keyboards) and Bruce Hall (bass guitar). Kevin’s strong but well-controlled vocals backed by the superb musicianship of the other members made this album a classic.”
1. Take It On the Run
“This album is difficult to describe, almost like “power country” with rock ballads. Every song has a personality that will charm you, and represents the band at the height of their polish. Another powerhouse ballad from the boys; a true ’80s classic”
