Jaewon explores fading intimacy on new single ‘Table Space’
Chicago singer-songwriter and producer Jaewon turns the slow deterioration of a relationship into a striking visual metaphor on his new single ‘Table Space’.
Created entirely from his home setup, the track centres on the image of two people gradually sitting further apart at the dinner table. It becomes a representation of long-term love losing its spark because familiarity, unresolved problems and endless repetition have allowed distance to creep in.
That bittersweet contradiction fits neatly into Jaewon’s wider musical world. Moving freely between psychedelic textures, heavier sounds and more sentimental songwriting, his work regularly places inviting instrumentation alongside considerably more bruising subject matter.
Originally beginning the project during quarantine as a way of escaping the expectations and limitations of previous musical ventures, Jaewon has maintained that freedom ever since. Writing, recording, performing and mixing his material independently allows him to follow an idea wherever it leads.
