Valentin BrunelĀ (born 17 December 1996), better known by his stage nameĀ Kungs, is a French DJ, record producer, and musician. A native ofĀ Toulon, he released his first albumĀ LayersĀ in 2016 after success with āThis Girlā, a collaboration withĀ Cookinā on 3 BurnersĀ that became an international hit for him, and the follow-ups āDonāt You Knowā featuringĀ Jamie N CommonsĀ and āI Feel So Badā featuring Ephemerals. Valentin chose the stage name āKUNGSā (āMisterā inĀ Latvian) after searching online for the translation of the word āgentlemanā in various languages.[1]Ā He began playing music when he was five, playing aĀ djembeĀ that was a gift from his parents. He grew up listening toĀ rock and rollĀ classics with his father, includingĀ The WhoĀ andĀ The Kooks. He began writing and posting online his own compositions when he was seventeen. His remixes of āJammingā byĀ Bob Marley and the WailersĀ and āWest Coastā byĀ Lana Del ReyĀ featuring new vocals from Molly both reached several million plays onĀ SoundCloudĀ andĀ YouTube. Kungsās remix ofĀ Lost Frequenciesā āAre You with Meā achieved more than 16 million views on YouTube. In January 2016, he was the opener of some performances in Europe onĀ David Guettaās Listen Tour.
