La Roux Songs Ranked
La Roux is an English synthpop act formed in 2006 by singer Eleanor “Elly” Jackson and record producer Ben Langmaid. The act’s debut album La Roux (2009) was a critical and commercial success, winning a Grammy Award and producing hit singles such as “In for the Kill” and “Bulletproof”. Recording of a follow-up album was marred by unsuccessful collaborations, the cancellation of two planned release dates, and reported conflict between the duo. Langmaid ultimately left the group in 2012, and Jackson released a second album, Trouble in Paradise, in 2014, maintaining the former duo’s name as her stage persona. In 2020, she released her third album, Supervision. Here are all of La Roux’s songs ranked.

10. Armour Love (La Roux, 2009)
“This song is so good, so amazing and addicting.. – I listen to it so much, this brings back so many great and wonderful memories to me. Freaking love this song.”
9. Cover My Eyes (La Roux, 2009)
““This honestly should be its own single. It combines the vocals of closer and the beat of don’t let me down. It is all that is good about La Roux, and is their most underrated song to date.”
8. Let Me Down Gently (Trouble in Paradise, 2014)
“Some good ideas, especially the transition and sax, that never gel and ultimately don’t pay off. Her voice just isn’t built to carry this kind of gravitas and her lyrics are charmlessly moon-June.”
7. I’m Not Your Toy (La Roux, 2009)
“The lyrics are amazing and I really really do love the background music. Everything about this song is awesome. From the beginning up until the end.”

6. Colourless Colour (La Roux, 2009)
“You can really hear the strength of her voice in this song, its astounding. I think this song is about the end of childhood/becoming a teenager (for example the reference to the early nineties). The lyrics seem to describe someone who is lost, whose world seems to change around them a lot. Amazing song.”
5. As If by Magic (La Roux, 2009)
“To me this is about someone that just lives inside their head. They’ve been through too much and they don’t want to dwell on it anymore or be in pain anymore, so they block it all out from their mind, don’t let themselves think about it, and think of other things. They tell themselves they’re fine, they’re stable, they’re moving on – but because they live inside their head, and keep everything locked up inside, their thoughts constantly changing, they get confused and never quite know how they feel, their thoughts end up contradicting each other.”
4. Tigerlily (La Roux, 2009)
“I know it sounds a tad stalkerish, but I don’t think it’s about stalking someone. As someone said before, the Tiger Lily is a show of female courage and possible aggression, and can mean “I dare you to love me”. I think her Tiger Lily in this song is someone who has been playing games with her, acting as though they care and then withdrawing – playing hard to get basically. And now she’s decided she has to make the next move, and the song is about her doing so. It’s like a challenge – “Come on then, if you want me, here I am.”

3. In for the Kill (La Roux, 2009)
“This song is amazing and the Skream remix is immense! I’m not entirely sure of the meaning, I need a while of thinking haha. But off the top of my head, I’m getting that it may be about opening yourself up to someone and telling them the way you feel, even though you may not like the overall turnout, because you know it’s something you have to do.”
2. Kiss and Not Tell (Trouble in Paradise, 2014)
“Great song with an absolutely fantastic music video. The drop and final shots give me goosebumps everytime I see the video.”
1. Bulletproof (La Roux, 2009)
“Excellent song from this English techno electric group reminiscent of disco/new wave songs from the 80’s. After becoming a smash all over Europe BULLETPROOF is well on it’s way to becoming a hit in the U.S. as it climbs the dance airplay chart.”
