LAB RAT chase the dream on powerful new single ‘Maine Road’

Australian outfit LAB RAT channel determination and uncertainty into ‘Maine Road’, a stirring new single from forthcoming album The Internet Makes Me Sad.

The song was born during a 2am journey from London to Brighton after the band had played a UK festival. With his own phone broken, frontman Dyl borrowed his guitarist’s and wrote the entire lyric during the hour-long drive while everyone else attempted to sleep.

Returning to Australia, Dyl teamed up with guitarist Kai to build the instrumental, turning that spontaneous idea into a track balancing LAB RAT’s melodic instincts with their familiar distortion and attitude.

‘Maine Road’ explores the feeling of throwing everything into a dream without any guarantee it will succeed, driven forward simply by the belief that it’s what you were meant to do.

The track appears on The Internet Makes Me Sad, an album developed after Dyl relocated from Melbourne to the Australian outback with around 50 demos. Eventually reduced to ten songs and mixed by acclaimed producer Scott Horscroft, the record promises an ambitious evolution of LAB RAT’s sound.
