15. Hot Boyz (Da Real World, 1999)

“Man, I love this cut! Missy knows what the deal is with those HOT BOYZ! Keep doing what you’re doing, Missy, and keep it real!

14. The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly, 1997)

“This song is really good, Timbaland delivers an insanely creative funk beat over Ann Peebles sample in the chorus. Elliott attempts to hide the fact that she was lazy with her own lyrics and depended on a Timbaland beat to save her. But overall this is a classic banger”

13. Gossip Folks (Under Construction, 2002)

“This was great; a really curious, serpentine groove. Missy’s vocal is great, curling her voice around some amusing words and rhymes. Ludacris’ cameo is superb; like Chuck D. crossed with the drawl of Fats Waller in 2003, he steals even a very good show. Such presence by both stars here; a very impressive single. Reached #9 (all too low) in the UK singles chart in March 2003.”

12. WTF (Where They From) (WTF (Where They From), 2015)

“Classic Missy with a new school twist. Nobody does beats and sounds like Missy Elliott, and this track is immediately identifiable as her work even before her iconic voice hits with the lyrics. Pharrell, however, was not immediately recognizable as I had no idea he was such a gifted rapper–what a refreshing new look to the guy I’d gotten sick of with “Happy”. This is a fantastic single and I can’t wait another album!”

10. All N My Grill (Da Real World, 1999)

“So misdemeanor is back again……! what can I say really? Best female rapper there is ! All n `my grill should be awarded or something! you just go girl, and don`t you dare letting your fans down by quitting what you do best, you hear me?”

9. Best, Best (Best, Best, 2008)

“Missy needs to come back and quick. I miss her music. And Missy really likes Beyonce. she always mentions her in her songs. Hopefully, they will work together again because the songs that they have together are the best”

8. Teary Eyed (The Cookbook, 2005)

“Honestly she is an an amazing entertainer she really does it all. Singing acting dancing rapping fashion trends producing writes her own material. like she was definitely mistreated when this came out. I love this Song.”

7. Lose Control (The Cookbook, 2005)

“Synth pop and Hip-hop form seamlessly in this spectacular high-energy single off Missy Elliott’ album “The Cookbook”. The opening synth rhythms roll perfectly with Missy Elliott’s lyrical talents. As with any strenuous workout, you must get warmed up first. This does it before slamming you with an explosive chorus. Hip-hop princess, Ciara’s, next verse will give you just enough of rest before you get ramped up to maximum speed again.”

6. Pass that Dutch (This Is Not a Test!, 2003)

“No other song could have been so perfect in that one Mean Girls scene. But the single itself is curiously unaffecting. Maybe it’s Missy’s monotone or maybe it’s–come on, guys, let’s admit it–her terrible lyrics. I mean it’s great to see such a successful female MC and all, and I can buy the point that with her weird ideas and persona, she paved the way for artists male and female. But her lyrics just were never that good.”

5. We Run This (The Cookbook, 2005)

“I swear she was one of those female rappers, who didn’t use her body to sell music. Even though she lost so much weight. She didnt come to the half time show in some tight dress. She came out as missy.”

4. Shake Your Pom Pom (Step Up 2: The Streets, 2008)

“I remember when Step Up 2 came out me and my sisters went to see it. This song was at the ending credits and we got up and danced right at the front on the cinema. Some people joined in”

3. Ching-A-Ling (Step Up 2: The Streets, 2008)

“Missy represented true Hip Hop. The way she rapped while also mixing in the dances and Hip Hop fashion. The way she did it was perfect.”

2. Get Ur Freak On (Miss E… So Addictive, 2001)

“Missy and Timbaland show why they were one of the most effective teams of the time period with this one. Creative and typically oddball arrangement makes it a fun listen.”

1. Work It (Under Construction, 2002)

“I listened to this album for a while and I think that this is the most creative Missy has gotten, the songs cud be said as to be more on the pop-side but I believe that this is Elliot at her finest. favorite: Gossip Folks – so good!”
