MONTE flip the script on cool with new single ‘Popular Too’

Brooklyn’s power-punk trio MONTE return with ‘Popular Too’, a breakneck anthem for the misfits, outsiders, and anyone who’s ever felt out of place. Blending thrashy skate-punk riffs, metal crunch, and pop-soaked hooks, the track channels both grit and heart in equal measure.

Frontwoman Caitlin Montclare explains, “Growing up I was so uncool — but looking back, I was probably ahead of the curve. Baggy clothes, backwards hats, out at 15… none of that was cool in the late ’90s/early 2000s.” That outsider energy fuels ‘Popular Too’, a track that celebrates finding your people and owning your weird.

The accompanying video, shot on Kodak film through a Bolex 16mm lens, leans into raw nostalgia; parking lot hangs, Big Gulps, high school bleachers, with a sly punk wink and even a furry cameo. It’s scrappy, loud, and defiantly its own thing. Just like MONTE.
