NCT (Korean: 엔시티; an acronym for Neo Culture Technology) is a South Korean boy band formed by SM Entertainment and introduced in January 2016. The group consists of 23 members as of April 2021, ranging in age from late teens to mid-twenties and divided into four different sub-units. Although each sub-unit promotes separately, NCT has united three times as a group to record three full-length albums: Empathy (2018), Resonance (2020), and Universe (2021). Within two months of release, Resonance sold over 2.6 million copies across its two parts, becoming the highest-selling physical album released by an act from SM Entertainment at the time and earning the group their first Grand Daesang Award at the 2020 Asia Artist Awards. 2. Resonance, Pt. 1
“NCT returns as a full group again after a multitude of releases from their three sub-units. Looking back to all music they’ve released, it’s clear to see that the boys have established their own sound, varying on some details in each group, but mainly consisting on hip-hop/R&B songs build over a modern approach with performances full of attitude, great choreographies and diverse vocals.”
1. NCT 2018 Empathy
“Baby Don’t Stop” is playing eternally on repeat wherever I go! Ten’s Angelic voice paired with Taeyong’s sultry smooth sometimes growly tone is Phenomenal. The rest of the album has a dream like Trancy Feel with deep driving beat – the 7th Sense, Black on Black, and Go – from Intro to Outro LOVED it!”
