10. Feelin’ Like (In:vite U, 2022)

“It’s a fun song and it’s getting better the most I listen to it, but still, it’s definitely not Pentagon’s strongest title track. Feelin’ Like grabs my attention enough for me to dig into the rest of the album which it’s pretty amazing and already has some of my favorite Pentagon songs ever.”

9. That’s Me (Love or Take, 2021)

“Opening the song with that line is brilliant. It had my jaw drop and made me laugh instantly. These are the kind of weird English lines I’ve been missing in kpop lately, and making it the main hook of the song was a bold move.”

8. Do Or Not (Love or Take, 2021)

“I cannot stop feeling like there is just something missing for this song to truly it hit it off with me, maybe during the verses because I cannot remember them at all. Love the energy, love that they keep doing their own thing and the album is pretty solid, tho.”

7. Daisy (We:th, 2020)

“It’s just one of those songs. That song that you already love on the first listen. It wont ever be my favorite song and I wont listen to it every day, but it just has that vibe that makes me feel so happy but sad at the same time.”

6. Basquiat (Road to Kingdom FINAL, 2020)

“Didn’t like this on first listen, but it grew on me over time (probably the Hui vocals). It’s still not something I actively seek out, but it’s not bad. Strangely, the opening lines of Vivid today by AB6IX reminded me of this song.”

5. Dr. BeBe (Universe: The Black Hall, 2020)

“I’m a huge universe and I can say they’ve never let me down so much as they did with this comeback. Going “sexy” was never a good idea, not for them. They’re the dorky frog guys who occasionally make dark but upbeat songs, not…this. I want them to have their first win, but I’m not sure this song deserves one”

4. Happiness (Universe: The Black Hall, 2020)

Happiness is when you weren’t expecting a new Pentagon song, in whatever language, but they deliver such a BOP including Yanan. I can’t believe this happy song is making me cry…”

3. Humph! (Universe: The History, 2020)

“The song sounds like Shine II. Shine, the unreleased demo. Shine, the extra verses. Shine, the low down version. Shine, the weird brother we don’t talk about much. At least the spare arrangement shows the boys can generally sing, not hidden by production tricks. The harmonies also sound sung, which is a plus for me.”

2. Sha La La (Universe: The History, 2020)

“Really like how Hui incorporates the insane falsettos (we don’t listen to a lot of falsettos in Kpop, right – or am I very wrong ?) that somehow reminiscent of the high-pitched synthesizers (??) at the beginning. And those funky guitars. Wow.”

1. Cosmo (Universe: The History, 2020)

“Yuto’s part in this is “pause-the-song-rewind-and-listen-to-it-ten-times-in-a-row” amazing. It has such an interesting feeling – the whole song feels a little mystical and ethereal, but I think his rap is one of the best parts. There’s an emotion to it that can’t quite be described and it’s very strong.”
